BOARDING A HORSE
at the Farm
Little Creek Farm is part of the Park system of Dekalb County.
Little Creek Farm is currently home to more than 52 horses. Almost 400 children and adults take riding lessons there each year. Little Creek horse owners are a diverse group of individuals from all walks of life who share a love of horses. Many of the horses have been rescued from horrible conditions and nursed back to health. Several are in retirement. Little Creek Farm is not a show barn but a place where horse lovers of all ages can keep their animals, learn to ride, or just visit. Visitors are welcome any day between 9:00 and 5:00.
Little Creek Farm has a 64-stall barn, which currently houses only 52 horses due to a pending renovation. The renovation will include resizing the 10 x 10 stalls to the industry’s standard 12x12. A new roof and complete redo of indoor arena is on the project board as well. There are two wash stall areas, one on each side of the barn with four stalls each. There are four tack rooms as well. The farm has approximately 20 acres of pasture traversed by South Peachtree Creek. There is a lighted outdoor arena with jumps and another 15 acres of riding trails through the woods along the creek. Two more arenas are due to be renovated, another jumping arena and a dressage arena. There are a few cross-country jumps in the pasture that will be renovated in the pasture renovation.
As a park in the DeKalb County Park system, Little Creek and its boarders recognize that the primary goal is to serve the people of DeKalb County. In keeping with that goal, boarders at the barn are committed to participating in and supporting programs that reach the broadest demographics of the county.
